Call for liquor ban in TN: Satta Panchayat Iyakkam gauging public opinion

CHENNAI: Satta Panchayat Iyakkam (SPI) is a conducting a survey to find out whether people would vote for the party, which supports liquor ban in Tamil Nadu, or they would back only the traditional political parties.

The SPI volunteers have been observing a fast in front of the SPI office on South West Boag Road at T Nagar here for the last three days demanding that the state government announce liquor prohibition during the ongoing assembly session. SPI general secretary Senthil Arumugam, secretary Jai Ganesh and Varaahi Sithar were among those who had participated in the fast in the last three days.

Ahead of the upcoming assembly election, the SPI volunteers are conducting a survey to gauge public opinion on liquor ban. "We have invited people to vote and share their views, as this will certainly play a crucial role in sharpening party's views on prohibition in the state," said SPI president Siva Ilango.
